Colombia Supremo Huila 17/18 is grown certified farms by multiple smallholder farmers in the surroundings area of the town of San Agustín, Huila department. Colombia is the largest producer of washed Arabica coffee and third total highest in the world, after Brazil and Vietnam. Its annual production ranges from 12 million to 15 million 70-kilo (154 lbs) bags. Annually Colombia exports approximately 12.5 million bags and consumes about 2 million bags. Colombia is very unique that is able to produce coffee all 12 months of the year due to it’s range of micro-climates and terrain. The flowering period is from April – October and the Main Crop harvest from September – December. The Mitaca harvest runs from March – June. The primary varieties grown in Colombia are Caturra, Bourbon ,Typica and Variedad Colombia (resistant to leaf rust disease know as Roya). Colombian coffee is referred by the region in which it is grown and altitudes range from 1,200 – 2,000 meters above sea level.
